When your child doesn’t sleep, you don’t sleep. Maybe you’re constantly getting up to check on them? Maybe they tiptoe into your room in the middle of the night and wake you up? There’s nothing wrong with a bit of snuggle time, but it’s not something you would want to encourage every single night. Why not simply get your kids a weighted blanket and watch them sleep through the night so they will be energised in the morning?

Calming Blanket’s weighted blanket for toddlers is perfect for those under 30kg (we don't recommend using it if your kid is under the age of 2). The outer minky fabric is soft and warm, and the glass beads are completely silent - even if your child keeps fidgeting in their sleep, the blanket noise won’t wake them up. It is also a perfect gift for parents who want to catch some Zs and want their child to do the same. Calming Blanket can help children with restless leg syndrome, ADHD, or as well as those with an autism diagnosis to deal with their symptoms. Delivered free Aus wide (2 - 8 day delivery) or express to NZ for $39!

Benefits of a Kids Weighted Blanket

All of our weighted blankets make use of a therapeutic practice called deep pressure stimulation - something that therapists have been using for decades now. By stimulating nerve endings with a bit of added weight, they are able to achieve sensory relaxation. Basically, they tell our extremities where they are in relation to our body and the things around us, so we can relax. They are simply heavier comforters, but they can do wonders for your child and their sleep patterns.

Here are some of the benefits your child can experience while using our kids weighted blanket:

  • They can fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
  • They can feel more relaxed when going to bed (especially kids with ADHD).
  • Children with autism can find the blanket calming.
  • Their serotonin and melatonin levels can possibly increase during night time (known effect of weighted therapy).

That’s not all - learn more about the benefits of weighted blankets, and make sure that your child goes to bed equipped with everything they need for a restful night. These blankets are especially useful if your child suffers from anxiety or stress, which is becoming ever more noticeable in small children. Things like moving house, excessive school work, divorce, or pressures of fitting in can really affect children, disrupting their sleep pattern and causing psychological issues. Our weighted blanket for toddlers is a great, non-pharmaceutical way to deal with all those issues.

SAFETY - Please do not use the blanket near the open flame. If it rips or starts leaking, dispose of it immediately. Do not ingest the beads.

Please note: as the majority of customers use The Calming Blanket with the minky cover, the advertised weight includes the approximate weight of the minky cover. If you plan using the cotton cover all-year-round, please consider getting a heavier version for your child.

Frequently Asked About Our Kids Blankets

Our weighted blanket for children is 121cm x 91cm.

This will depend on how old your child is. We do not recommend using our blanket if your child is under 2 years of age. For safety, it's very important that your child is able to lift the blanket off themselves and carry it. They also need to be old enough to understand that they shouldn’t cover above the neck.

That’s a question only you can answer. You know your child’s likes and dislikes, and how they respond to different (especially tactile) inputs. Still, if your child likes the following, they will certainly like to sleep with a bit of added weight. * They like to sleep under heavy comforters or pillows. * They enjoy hiding behind furniture and under the sofa (enjoy close spaces). * They don’t like standing still and are very fidgety (even after physical activity).

Our blankets are known for their soothing, evenly distributed weight. If you find your blanket is bunching, it’s probably due to 1 of the inner ties coming untied. To fix this, open the outer blanket zipper and secure the inner blanket to the outer using the tie. Then lay they entire blanket flat again to ensure it’s functioning correctly.

We don't suggest using a weighted blanket if your child is under 2 years of age. They have to be able to lift the blanket so they can easily uncover themselves if needed. That's why we created a 2.2kg weighted blanket for children under 30kg. If your kid is over 30kg they might be okay to use the 6.8kg product for adults, provided they can lift it.

We use a 6 tie system to give your child an even weight distribution. We also use beautifully soft fabric that can provide positive feedback when touched.

While this is a weighted blanket for toddlers, adults can use it as a lap pad. If you’re worried that you won’t get sufficient pressure from it, take a look at our weighted blanket for adults.
